EC‍‍`s latest draft update says Bangladesh now has over 12.17 crore voters

The Election Commission (EC) announced on Sunday that, according to the most recent draft update, there are currently 12 crore, 17 lakh, and 75,450 voters in the country.

EC’s Assistant Director Arshadul Huq said there are 6,20,90,137 male voters and 5,96,84,389 female voters in the updated voter list.

The voter list act specifies that each year on January 2, the draft voter list is released. However, the commission was not being able to do this year because of the recently held 12th national parliament election.

This list will be available at each upazila and thana election office across the nation. Complaints about the draft list‍‍`s inclusion of foreign nationals, deceased people, and fake identities can be lodged there.

The next upazila election will be conducted in accordance with the final revised list, which the EC will issue on March 2 following the resolution of objections.
